Looking for a milk carton template? Then look no further. I’ve got the sweetest little gift box for you today. These printable milk cartons are perfect for filling with treats or small gifts and make excellent party favours.

I love a cute gift box. Do you remember last year when I showed you how to make your own DIY mini milk carton gift boxes? Well, they ended up being one of my most popular DIY’s.

With Valentine’s day coming up fast I wanted to make an updated version to celebrate the month of love. Instead of showing you how to do all the measuring and scoring yourself, this time I thought I’d give you a free printable template to help make it as easy as I can.

All you need is your favourite scrapbook paper, a printer and some glue to make your own pretty packaging.

How to make a milk carton box?
To make these DIY boxes as useful as possible I’ve created a blank template for you. The beauty of this is you can print it out onto any patterned paper or lightweight card that you want.

I’ve held onto this gorgeous Amy Tangerine scrapbook paper since last October so I’m excited to finally make something with it. Seriously, how cute are those tiny hearts?

Sadly it’s no longer available but you can still buy her Rise & Shine Paper Pad. While it’s not Valentines themed it’s still super pretty and perfect for Spring and Summer.

Scrapbook Paper (I have to admit I have a soft spot for anything by American Crafts. They have the best designs) or lightweight cardstock,

Free Printable Milk Carton Template,

A Bone Folder and Ruler for scoring (not essential but will help get a crisp crease on your fold),

Double-sided tape or Glue,

Washi tape or a mini peg to hold close (optional).

How to fold a milk carton.
1. Print out the free milk carton gift box template onto the back of your chosen paper.

I used scrapbook paper that I cut down to A4 size and ran through the printer but you could also use some lightweight coloured card.

If your pattern needs to be a certain way up like mine did, make sure to run a few test pieces through the printer first. I had to put my paper in back to front and upside down to get it to print the right way up.

I usually draw an arrow on some printer paper first to mark the front of the paper and which way is up.

2. Cut along the solid lines.

3. Score and fold along all the dashed lines.

4. Apply double-sided tape or glue to the side tab to form a tube.

5. Apply more tape to the bottom tabs to form the base of the box.

6. Fill your open box with your treat or gift.

7. Gently press in the top of the box to form the milk carton shape. The lines you scored earlier should make this easy.

8. Secure the top using some washi tape or a mini peg or clip like I did with my other mini milk cartons.

Alternatively use a hole punch and punch two holes through the top of the box before tying with a ribbon.

Pretty easy, right? The tricky part is making sure to print the template the right way up.

And don’t forget, cut along the solid lines, score along the dashed lines.
